Tiny Houses in Akseki: Snow-Ready Mountain Homes in the Taurus

Akseki is a mountain district of cedar and pine forests above Manavgat, with snowy winters and cool summers. A compact, well-insulated tiny house makes a warm village or highland home.

Akseki lies where the road from Manavgat climbs into the Taurus Mountains, among cedar, black pine and juniper forests. Winters bring snow; summers are much cooler than on the coast. At Beyaz Tiny House, most people who contact us about a tiny house in Akseki want something small and warm: a village home, a highland summer house or a weekend escape from the coastal heat.

Built for snow and cold

  • Roof: a reinforced structure for snow loads and a pitched metal roof that sheds snow easily, with the entrance positioned so falling snow does not block it
  • Insulation: thicker insulation in walls, roof and floor than our coastal models, plus well-sealed double-glazed windows
  • Heating: an insulated flue for a small wood stove, which suits local habits, with electric heating or air conditioning as backup
  • Plumbing: designed to drain from a single point, so a house left empty over winter does not suffer from frozen pipes

A small, well-insulated space is far easier to heat than an old stone house. Browse layouts on our models page or read what a tiny house is.

Who builds here

We mainly hear from three groups: families who live in big cities but return to their home village for summers and holidays, often placing a tiny house beside an old stone house instead of restoring it; families who move up to the highland pastures for a few months each summer; and people from Antalya and Manavgat looking for a cool, forested weekend plot. What they share is a house that stands empty for part of the year and spends the winter under snow, so we design for exactly that.

Getting there: winding mountain roads

We build in Silifke, Mersin, and deliver along the D400 coastal road via Alanya to Manavgat, then up the mountain road towards Central Anatolia, roughly 390 km in total. Beyond Manavgat the road is steep and winding, and village or highland tracks can be narrow, unpaved and full of tight bends. So we:

  • measure road width, the tightest bend, bridges and overhanging branches during the site visit
  • design a more compact house where the road requires it
  • plan a transfer to a smaller vehicle or a crane lift where needed
  • schedule delivery between late spring and autumn to avoid snow and ice

Where no road allows it, a prefab house carried in panels and assembled on site is the better option.

Forest boundaries and permits

Much of Akseki lies within or next to forest land, where building rules are strict, and highland pastures have their own usage rights. Please check the plot's status with Akseki Municipality and the local forestry office before placing a house. Our Antalya service page has more information.
