Steel Houses in Korkuteli for a Continental Plateau Climate

Korkuteli sits on a high plateau above Antalya with cold winters and hot, dry summers. A light-steel house with continuous external insulation makes a durable, comfortable year-round home.

Korkuteli is a short drive from Antalya city, but its climate is completely different. At around a thousand metres, this plateau of grain fields, orchards and livestock villages has cold, sometimes snowy winters and hot, dry summers. At Beyaz Tiny House, most enquiries we get here are for permanent homes, and a light-steel house is often the best fit.

Why a steel house suits Korkuteli

  • Galvanised steel frames sized for local snow and wind loads, with no rot or insect damage
  • Easy to extend later with an extra room or enclosed veranda
  • Fast assembly, useful where the building season is limited by winter
  • Flexible plans, from a single-storey village house to a two-storey family home

Handling big temperature swings

The real challenge is the range: freezing winter nights, scorching summer afternoons and a large difference between day and night. Steel conducts heat well, so insulation must also run as a continuous layer on the outside of the frame. Otherwise the profiles become thermal bridges, leading to cold stripes on walls, condensation and mould. We treat continuous external insulation as standard for Korkuteli.

The open plateau is also windy, so roofing and fixings are secured against wind, and roof pitch is chosen for snow. A thick, ventilated roof keeps summer heat out. Double-glazed PVC frames, limited glass on the north side, frost-protected plumbing and a heat pump backed by a stove or boiler complete the package.

Who builds here

Farmers who want to live beside their fields, people returning to their villages, livestock businesses that need a caretaker's home, and Antalya commuters who prefer a quieter, cooler place with more land. Many plots here are generous in size, so single-storey layouts with a covered veranda and a separate utility room for boots, tools and firewood are popular. You can compare layouts on our models page.

Delivery from Silifke

Steel components are prepared at our workshop in Silifke, Mersin, and travel along the D400 coastal road via Alanya and Manavgat to Antalya, then up the main road towards Burdur and Denizli, roughly 470 km in total. The main road is wide, but village roads can be narrow and icy in winter. Because the house travels in parts, narrow lanes are rarely a problem, but we prefer to deliver outside winter and check crane ground in advance.

Permits

Most land in Korkuteli is agricultural. Building a home depends on plot size, zoning and official approval, and village settlement areas may follow different rules. Please confirm with Korkuteli Municipality. See our Antalya service page for more.
