Gündoğmuş stretches into the Taurus Mountains north of Alanya and Manavgat: deep valleys, steep slopes, pine forests, walnut-shaded villages and highland pastures where coastal families spend the summer. It is beautiful but difficult terrain for conventional construction. At Beyaz Tiny House, we usually recommend a light-steel house or a prefab house here.
Why light steel suits steep plots
- Carried in parts: steel profiles and panels fit on small vehicles and can even be carried by hand where large modules cannot pass
- Little concrete, little digging: the house stands on point footings or steel columns of different heights, so the slope stays largely intact
- Light weight: less load on rocky, sloping ground
- Short build time: important where the building season is limited

How a slope build works
We visit the plot to check the gradient, ground type, rainwater flow and access. Footings or columns are set to level the base, the galvanised frame is assembled on site, then roof, walls, floor insulation, windows and cladding follow, and finally services. The space under the house on the downhill side can become a woodstore, and a deck facing the valley makes the view part of the home. A simple drainage channel guides rain and snowmelt around the house rather than beneath it.
Snow and insulation
Higher parts of Gündoğmuş have snowy, cold winters, and highland homes often stand empty through them. We size the roof structure for snow loads and use pitched metal roofing that sheds snow. Because steel conducts heat, we add a continuous insulation layer outside the frame to avoid thermal bridges. Double-glazed windows, plumbing that drains from a single point, a wood stove flue and a heat-pump air conditioner complete the package, while a thick roof and wide eaves keep the summer sun out.
Delivery from Silifke
We prepare components at our workshop in Silifke, Mersin, and deliver along the D400 coastal road to the stretch between Alanya and Manavgat, then north on the mountain road, roughly 330 km in total. After leaving the coast, the road is steep and winding, and village tracks are narrow, with tight bends and some unpaved sections. Because nothing has to travel as one large module, we can transfer materials to smaller vehicles at the village entrance. We schedule work between spring and autumn to avoid snow and ice.
Permits
