Choosing a Site for a Tiny House in Silifke: Coast, Delta and Highlands

Planning a tiny house, prefab or caravan in Silifke? Our Ulugöz workshop explains how Taşucu, the Atakent–Susanoğlu coast, the Göksu Delta and the highland villages each shape the right build.

If you are considering a tiny house in Silifke, the first question is usually not which model, but where to put it. Silifke combines a salty Mediterranean coastline, the flat and humid Göksu Delta, and cooler villages climbing into the Taurus foothills. Our workshop is in Ulugöz, Silifke, so we know these differences first-hand. For an overview of our builds, see our Silifke tiny house page.

The coast: Taşucu, Atakent and Susanoğlu

This stretch is popular for summer homes, rentals and retirement by the sea. Sea air is hard on exposed metal, so we recommend galvanised chassis parts and corrosion-resistant paint systems. Summers are hot and humid, which makes roof and wall insulation, shading and well-placed air conditioning important. Building close to the shoreline is restricted, so always check the plot's zoning status first. On smaller seasonal plots, a mobile tiny house on a wheeled chassis offers flexibility: it can be moved if your plans change.

Around the Göksu Delta

The delta is fertile farmland and also a protected wetland known for its birdlife. Parts of the area may carry conservation status, where permanent structures are very limited. Where placement is possible, groundwater and humidity mean the house should sit raised above the ground on a chassis or adjustable supports, with a moisture-protected underside.

The highland villages

Inland villages such as those around Uzuncaburç are noticeably cooler, with cold winters and occasional snow at higher points. Here we specify thicker insulation, double glazing, a pitched roof for snow and rain, and a planned heating solution. Narrow village roads also affect transport, so we size mobile units accordingly. Off-grid solar and water tanks are common choices.

Which product fits where?

  • Coast: mobile tiny house or caravan with corrosion protection.
  • Delta: raised mobile tiny house with moisture control.
  • Highlands: well-insulated fixed tiny house or steel house.
  • Zoned residential plot: a prefab house for permanent living.

The advantage of a local builder

Because we are based in Silifke, we can visit your land in person, you can see your home being built at our workshop, delivery distances are short, and after-sales service is close at hand. Site visits and quotes are free. If you live abroad or in another city, we can also walk the plot on a video call and send you photos of the access road, the ground and the views before you decide on a layout. More about the wider region is on our Mersin tiny house page.

Zoning, coastal, agricultural and conservation rules differ from plot to plot, so please confirm with the municipality before buying land.
